Payton Fookes opened the playoffs with a hat trick on Tuesday night to help Wichita Falls High School earn a Sectional round date on Friday night against Birdville in Mineral Wells.
Fookes was credited with only two goals in Wednesday’s edition, but in reality scored three to tie Kaitlin Foran, who scored twice, for the team lead with 17 on the season. The Lady Coyotes defeated Denton 5-1.
Sierra Anderson had been given the goal, but instead had a very nice assist on one of Fookes’ finishes.
Friday’s match is set for a 6 p.m. start at Ram Stadium (next to the high school).
Birdville defeated Gainesville, 10-0, on Tuesday and has outscored its playoff opponents, 21-0.
The Rider boys are winning both games and coin flips and will play at home Friday against Denton Guyer. That match will kick off at 7 p.m.
